Postby banned storage » Tue Jul 03, 2012 4:08 pm

This is a thread for all types of scuttlebutt. If you know the scuttlebutt on something and would like to share it, please share it here. It's also a great place to ask members of the community if THEY know the scuttlebutt on something. Happy scuttlebutting!

super spicy. i love this scuttlebutt. block was banned yrs in 2009 for his involvement in Balco, including (if i read correctly) buying the cream, clear, EPO, and modafinil from Conte and helping his sprinter wife, zhanna block use modafinil.

after rojo confronted block, he asked jeter (a former athlete of Block's) what Block was doing there.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... XfbXFekvH8

she avoided the questions, but apparently carmelita jeter and jason richardson (new pr in the hurdles) went out to dinner with block back in april. definitely seems fishy.

even if jeter's not on something (which has always been a valid question, but is perhaps now even moreso), this makes her look like an idiot.

There's quite a scuttlebut a few thousand miles east right now, where Al Jazeera is alleging that Yasser Arafat may have actually been killed by polonium poisoning!

While I advocated for folks to be patient, I viewed Max Siegel as being one of the biggest flops of the trials. He completely dropped the ball on speaking out during the run-off controversy. I wonder if he/USATF will respond to this at all? What a toxic, flawed organization. It has no hope until the board is completely overhauled and they get some good leadership.

Not sure how anyone would know this, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to try asking, because this has been bothering me to no end: What's the deal with Benabbad pushing the mascot at euros? The only explanation I've seen is a couple of sources conjecturing that he might have been mad that he was greeted by a mascot and not a flower girl. This strikes me as an almost comically bad guess. My best guess, given that he has done things like this before, is that he's just nuts. However, I find this explanation unsatisfying, since it is pretty much a guess, and that it's incomplete since there was still likely something that set him off. Is there anybody with special knowledge that can make a better educated guess as to what happened? I've just been baffled by the situation and frustrated by the reporting that's been done on it, which seems to totally lack inquiry into why the thing happened.
It goes without saying that

Big fall out at Nike Oregon Project: http://www.runblogrun.com/2012/07/magne ... m=facebook

While I imagine Magness has talent and commitment, too many people think you can skip boots-on-the-ground experience and what can be learned from that. I hope he lands somewhere he continues to be mentored and taught, as he is simply not ready for prime time.

Haha my log is updated through yesterday. Maybe you are looking at pkissin (failed merv attempt #1) instead of peterkissin (my actual log, I guess it's kind of confusing since my runnerunner name is different than my merv name). But since you bring it up, I'll log today's run right now. Just for you, Bernie.
