Princeton Larry Ellis meet

Postby docvfm » Thu Apr 20, 2017 8:11 pm

Several Goats will be running in at Princeton tomorrow evening. Depending on the event, the temp should be in the mid to low 60's with a gentle breeze, ideal conditions for middle distance and distance running. Liam Lynch will start off the evening for the goats. He ran 1:54.35 last week and he shows tremendous promise in the event in my opinion. I have a feeling he will run another PR tomorrow.

Graham Peet and James Stadler will then be running the 3K steeple. Both looked good on their initial effort two weeks ago, and it appears likely that both may set new PRs. Both ran 1500 PRs last week.

Greg Morgan will then run the 1500. He ran a big PR by over 7 seconds in the 1500 last week at 3:52.36. In my experience with Greg, he tends to run better still on the second 1500 of the season. This, combined with the perfect evening running conditions and the great competition, suggests the possibility of another PR, perhaps close to the 3:50 range if all the stars are in alignment.

The conditions should be perfect for our 5K guys.Henry, Dylan, Jimmy, Ryan, and and Charlie will all be running. I hope the magic of the moment will lead to some big PRs. All of them ran PRs last week in the 1500, some by large margins, so everyone appears in top shape. Big PRs are possible.

I will be attending the meet and will be recording all the races and posting them here. Hopefully Goat TV will be there to give a live feed for the races as well! I am very excited about the possibilities of what might occur tomorrow!

What are your projections for Hoagie Haven orders? Tom will probably ask for tuna... there will certainly be a Sanchez (extra Sanchez sauce) and an El Mexicano in the mix. Some guys may be ready to step up and tackle the Body Bag...

Good luck goats!

No promises about goat tv. Not sure if anyone with the appropriate phone will be going up to spectate. We'll see what we can do, though.

Some great 5ks at Widener! Evan at 15:13, Sam McCalpin at 15:15, David Watt at 15:41. All 10+ second PRs! Especially impressive performance from DWatt, getting a Conference qualifier and setting a significant 3k PR en route!

Greg ran 3:55.99 for 7th place. He ran solidly through 1100 meters( 2:52.7), an almost identical time as last week when he ran 3:52.36, but he just didn't have the finishing kick this time , running 63.2 for the last 400 compared to 59.4 last week. He did run a spirited race, placing himself in third place with 400 to go.

This is turning into a pretty incredible day for Goats between the two meets.

When's the last time a sophomore ran 14:33 or faster at Haverford? That is spectacular. Certainly the fastest sophomore Goat this century.

Charlie's last 400 was identical to the millisecond as Drew Hunter. Charlie went from 13th to 5th on the last lap.

Solid night for the Goats overall. Widener with a very strong showing for the night as well: Ernie at 14:08 and Will McDermott at 14:09, running unattached. Also a freshman FTW in 14:48 at the home meet.
