Robby Andrews, a two-time NCAA champion in the men's 800 meters, has announced his decision to leave the Virginia track and field/cross country program.

He might want to change his twitter name. Should we snatch up all the big contenders?

Has he been injured? I'm thinking not, and the reason he hasn't competed indoors is that he was weighing his options about making a jump and didn't want to use up eligibility. Wonder if the school will release him, and which college (if any) he'll end up at.

In the short term, he needs to find a coach -- fast. He can make the Olympic team and needs to get everything in order for that to happen.

Also, article on nj.com says he's leaving UVA altogether, not just the track team there.

his stock is uber-high for going pro, i would think it's the right time to focus absolutely on the olympics, and it would be crazy not to stick with vig after the success they've had. i like the idea of him and centrowitz a bit, but andrews never struck me as the kind of guy who is ultimately going to be better at the 1500--but wheating surprised me there too.

I know there's a trivial chance he stays in college, but I think going to Oregon is a mistake. He's already left one school because the coach was gone, and I think most people expect Vin to seriously entertain taking over USATF post-Olympics, so if he went there he'd be in for another reshuffling. It's less of a big deal with Oregon because they would just get an absolute top-notch replacement if Vin left, but still.

For me, all signs point to Vig -- unless Nike leans on him, in which case he's with Salazar. Those are the only two options.

I had no idea it was you. Are you living in the city now too?

Nope, but I work at 16th & Walnut and my special lady friend lives at 10th & Spruce so I am in the city 1-2 nights a week and go running.

I'm loving the Ny Nj TC idea. He is a Jersey guy (so is Vig, right?) Someone at NB, Asics, Brooks, etc. packages a deal that is sweet ( a la Jenny Simpson). He trains under Gags, Vig is hired as an assistant coach to get his reputation back, and Gags retires after 2012 or so.

There's one option that isn't listed here: test out how much faith he really has and go train under God with Ryan Hall. Because as we know, God's training plan works for any event.
