Summary: Had great intentions of running in Cincinnati last week, but long hours of work, snow, and darkness killed those. Luckily it's still in the mid-50s here in Mississippi, and I can still run with a shirt off. Nice and slow after over a week off, but I felt really good for a bit on Pollack.
Summary: Took a break from work/football to run from the girls' house in the afternoon. Did a loop through the nice houses on Morningside and Pecan, out to Fasonia and back. My ankle didn't feel great at first, which could be any combination of running two days in a row for the first in months, the cold weather, and starting out on paved roads instead of the dirt roads at my house. Fortunately it loosened up a bit and I felt okay.
Summary: Went out through the fields and then down Bayou into town to retrieve my car from Andy's. The dirt roads were a little sloppy, so it was stop-and-go a bit. Ankle not great but better than when I tried to go out earlier this week.
Summary: I was going to go out for my weekly run in the afternoon, but a few steps out and the limping made it not feel worth it. While I was eating lunch my mom said they had a stationary bike set up. So a couple hours later I rode for a bit while watching the end of the Eagles game. Not very long but enough to get me sweaty and it was good to exercise. Getting my legs moving actually reduced swelling in the ankle, too. I'm ordering a bike trainer this week (Christmas gift), and I'm hopeful that if I'm biking every other day, I'll actually be able to run more often.
Summary: Took a break from work with a ride on the bike. 45 minutes (two episodes of "It's Always Sunny"). Afterwards did some light core work, since biking never feels like a satisfactory full-body workout when compared to running. If the swelling keeps staying down I might try running tomorrow.
Summary: A little bit of experimenting today. 5 minutes on the bike before heading out to see if a little bit of warm-up helps the pain of the pounding that I get out the outset, and then 15 minutes back on the bike at the end to see if that can cut the swelling and limping post-running. Pain was still there at the beginning of the run, but more manageable--don't know if that's the biking today or just the biking and rest in general. We'll see how the after-swelling plays out. The run was a quick one up to Park St. and back, felt good and loose. A little bit of pain in a pinched nerve in the ball of my left foot, which I blame on my new cowboy boots, which are taking a little while to break in. And, yes, that's an absurd sentence for a running log.
Summary: Recovered from the stomach bug I picked up. Rode the bike easy for about 30 minutes.
Summary: About 5 minutes of biking each before and after. The streets were nice and empty, as always on Christmas. Ankle felt good; could still feel it throughout but even less of a problem than last time.

Summary: With Sherm in the morning. Maybe a faster pace than I usually do myself, or maybe I'm just not used to talking and running at the same time. Roads were still sloppy from the blizzard, but felt great.
Summary: Rode the nu-step machine for a while (30 minutes) at Kim's house in the morning. Reminded me of the good ol' days in physical therapy. It was also a good opportunity to get caught up on Jersey Shore.
