Wednesday: 3 miles AM: 3 miles First run in two days gonna take it real easy this week PM: regionals/ 0 miles Gonna put down thoughts about regionals/nationals/season over the next few days After conferences, there was a lot of talk on the team. "are we going to run regionals?", "what are we doing here?", it seemed like there was a lot of negative energy and it felt really mentally taxing to try and juggle the team issues with I was also dealing with at the time, so I decided that I would stop logging until naitonals was over so that I could more easily focus on the other parts of my life and be confident that my running would take care of itself. i think that was a good startegy. For the last few weeks I felt really relaxed abou myt running and other parts of my life were also going better. That beign said, naitonals has passed and now I need to put some thoughts on the page. Start with Regionals: I felt good going into this race. Everyone on the team was a little sick, but we all had good attitudes about the race. There were not alot of expectations for the team and thus guys knew that all they needed to do was go out there and run. If we won it would be cool, but it would be enough to just have a good race as a team. The gun went off, my first thought was "get to the front and establish yourself" I think the rest of the guys on the team had the same thought because around 1 mile Joel, gus, sam, and charlie were all around me. Joel even had the lead for a while. Around 2 miles the race started to thin out, ockstein made a wierd, but we brought him back. I was in the lead pack until around 3 miles where I fell back to no mans land for a little bit. Picked myself up and got ockstein and robinson in the 4th mile. Was working hard the last bnit, runnign strong, eyes up, almost got 4th but got barely outkciked by steinbock in the last 50 meters. I was kicking real hard but I pulled up a little in my left hamstring and stumbled and he got me. I felt really good about this race. I raced confidently all the way throuhg. Furhteremore, we had our best team race of the season. I think a few people were dissapointed, but overall we had a lower spread and guys just striaght up looked better and also raced boldly.
